COVID-19 Spring Booster
Who can have it?
You may be eligible if you are:
- Aged 75 or over
- Living in a care home for older adults
- Aged 6 months or over with a weakened immune system
Why have the vaccine?
- Helps protect you from serious illness
- Reduces your risk of hospital admission
- Boosts your protection as immunity can reduce over time
Possible side effects
Most are mild and pass within a few days:
- Sore arm
- Feeling tired
- Headache or mild flu-like symptoms
- Fever
RSV Vaccine
What is RSV?
RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) is a common virus that affects the airways and lungs.
It usually causes mild cold-like symptoms, but in older adults and babies it can lead to more serious illness, such as chest infections.
Who can have it?
From April, eligibility is being extended. You may be offered the vaccine if you are:
- Aged 75 years
- Pregnant (to help protect your baby after birth)
Why have the vaccine?
- Helps protect against serious lung infections caused by RSV
- Reduces the risk of needing hospital care
Possible side effects
Usually mild and short-lived:
- Sore arm
- Tiredness
- Headache
- Muscle aches
